Russendisko

This Matthias Schweighöfer film follows three young men as they move their lives from Moscow to Berlin. Filmed in 2012, it takes place just after the Berlin Wall fell.

You can read more about Matthias Schweighöfer in the post for Der Nanny. Friedrich Mücke and he had a similar trip in Friendship! Just a couple years prior to Russendisko. You can also see Mücke in Ludwig II. Recently, he’s been in more TV than films. Christian Friedl, perhaps best known from his first film Das weisse Band, plays the third young man. More recently you can find him in Babylon Berlin. Recently in Blood Red Sky on Netflix, Peri Baumeister plays a love interest in Russendisko. This was her second film role.

Russendisko merges learning of some cultural differences, geography, history, as well as young adult culture that still exists today.

Approximately 28 minutes in, there is a short scene where the group jumps into a lake. It appears that everyone keeps their undergarments on, but this scene could be easily skipped. Near the end of the film, there are some underdressed dancers in the Disko, but also covered. It would likely rate at PG-13 in the US, were it to be rated.
