Lommbock

Currently available on Netflix, this 2017 comedy merges an underground German culture with the international culture of Dubai.

Moritz Bleibtreu and Lucas Gregorowicz are our main characters – old friends and complete opposites. Of course we remember Bleibtreu from so many different roles and recently read more about Gregorowicz in the review of Das Wunder von Bern. The son is played by Louis Hofmann, who was a major player in Dark as well as You are Wanted.

There is a drug smuggling attempt early in the film. It is followed by a lecture of why that’s inappropriate. However, 13 minutes in, there is marijuana use which continues for several minutes and repeats at 26 minutes with a consequence and this theme continues throughout the film as expected. There is drug selling and a discussion of it, comparing son to father around 43 minutes in. This is followed by a conversation of pornography. A sex scene takes place about 55 minutes in and more drug scenes follow as they look for answers to a drug-related situation. An hour and 30 minutes in it becomes explicit in their attempt to fake a drug test, which also includes some sexual innuendo.
