Heil

This 2015 comedy is satire, showing an African-German who loses his memory and begins being used by Neo-Nazis.

Director Dietrich Brüggemann has also directed YouTube videos on the topic of xenophobia and homophobia, which he has on his YouTube Channel. Check out the video One Shot, which features some of the actors seen in this film.

Alongside star Benno Fürmann is Liv Lisa Fries, who may be a familiar face for those watching German shows on Netflix – she plays a recurring character in Babylon Berlin. She was also in the student favorite Die Welle.

Another face from Die Welle is Jacob Matschenz. Like Fries, he also had a recurring role (though didn’t last as long) in Babylon Berlin. Beyond that, he can be found in 3 Türken und ein Baby and Till Eulenspiegel.

This film explicitly discusses racism and racist terminology as well as privilege in the context of society and politics, and as such lends itself well to a classroom setting. Some violence does take place, but most of it is exaggerated to the point of absurd humor.
