Allein gegen die Zeit

  • by

This is a film version, released in 2016, of a TV show that ran from 2010-2012. Interestingly, they were able to use much of the same cast.

Janina Fautz is the headliner of this film. Her best known work may have been Das weiße Band, though she was also in Die wilden Kerle 4 and 5.

Stephanie Amarell, who is also one of the main characters, was also in Das weiße Band, but we may know her best from Netflix’s Dark.

Ugur Ekeroglu, playing Özzi, was also in 2016’s Offline: Das Leben ist kein Bonuslevel. (At the time of this post, Offline is available on America’s version of Netflix. I have seen it, and I recommend it, though I have not yet written about it to set up warnings and classroom uses.)

Stipe Erceg joins us for this film as well. Of course, we’ve seen his name before. (For more information, please use the search function at the top right corner.) He has a few things in the works – it’s exciting to see him staying busy.

Overall, not a bad film. While appropriate (the worst that happens are a couple English-language swear words with a heavy accent) and containing some interesting topics of choice for teenagers, I’m not sure of the educational value beyond entertainment in the target culture.
