Stauffenberg

  • by

Known in the U.S. as Operation Valkyrie, this 2004 film is a German version of the Tom Cruise film, which came 4 years later. And it’s even rated PG-13, so it is viewable in most high school classrooms.

Stauffenberg is played by Sebastian Koch, who has proven himself well-rounded over the years. We’ve seen him in such films as The Danish Girl, Das fliegende Klassenzimmer, Amen., Der Tunnel, Gloomy Sunday, and Das Leben der Anderen.

Another big name among the cast is Ulrich Tukur, who also appeared in Das Leben der Anderen and Amen. with Koch. His other projects have included such films as Die Weiße Rose (his first film), Werner – Beinhart!, My Mother’s Courage, Solaris, Nordwand, and Zettl.

Obviously this film has some heavy topics. I would recommend this for the upper levels, where discussions on such things may be attainable.
