This 1997 satire, in case it weren’t obvious enough by the title image, is not recommended for educational purposes. That being said, it is a star-studded cast for the time and may be worth discussing briefly. Recognizing its place as a satire helps handle the untimely transitions and disconnected scenes.
Veronica Ferres (who was dating the director at the time), Joachim Król, Armin Rohde, Götz George, Heiner Lauterbach, and Burghart Klaußner are all familiar faces for anyone who’s watched German movies from the late 1990s. Perhaps the most interesting actor cast in this film, however, is Mario Adorf. His credits go back to 1954, when he was still studying drama. He was especially popular in the 1970s (Der Blechtrommel may be his biggest film) and began dropping off in the early 1990s (he was in his 60s at the time), though he didn’t have a single year without credits between 1954 and 2000 and remained active through 2019, with another credit in 2023 with Real Fight.
Director and writer Helmut Dietl was best known for his comedy work. His final film before his death was Zettl. He does have one acting credit as well, having played a small role in the sequel of Erkan & Stefan – Erkan & Stefan Gergen die Mächte der Finsternis.
Much of this film did not age well, particularly in the realm of sexual harassment (of both men and women).
