Jetzt oder nie: Zeit ist Geld, otherwise known to my students as “old ladies robbing banks,” is a drama-comedy released in 2000. There are serious dramatic points – the senior citizens needing money to accomplish a large item on their bucket list, the conditions they are living in, and then there’s comedy… old ladies robbing banks.
This movie has some interesting conversations that could be good listening practice for upper level students, and the comedy portions are enough to keep students of all levels interested. It has been a student favourite in my classes for years. (There’s also a small role played by Til Schweiger, which somehow still catches the students’ eyes – the ladies learn how to rob banks from him.)
There is mild drinking and gambling involved, in addition to the violence one might expect in a bank robbery. It would probably land around PG-13 in the U.S. were it to be rated here.
