Groupies bleiben nicht zum Frühstück

This 2010 rom-com has a target audience of young teenagers and preteens. The plot brings an exchange student back to Germany from America and meeting a rockstar whom she doesn’t know.

Kostja Ullmann plays our star. We know him from several others movies in this blog! He’s been quite busy this year too.

Luzy, the younger sister of our main female character, is played by Amber Bongard. She plays Fanny in the Ostwind series (which has a new film in post-production at the time of this post!) and has been in many other shows and films. She started acting in shows at age 7.

Nina Gummich is the friend. She played Siri at age 8 in Blueprint, has recently been in Babylon Berlin.

Roman Knizka is the manager. We likely recognize him from Dark. He was also in Anatomie 2.

This film is cute and generally appropriate for the classroom. There are some young teen culture aspects here that could be expanded upon, such as the Bravo magazine. Of course it’s all certainly very exaggerated with the pop culture, but still enjoyable and useable as a teaching material. There is also a moment of du/Sie clarity, although in the same moment as Lila is found under the covers (see below).

About an hour in, there is implied sex, but there is nothing inappropriate seen or heard. There are some f-words thrown around in English in the last half an hour. This film is rated 0 in Germany, but would likely be PG-13 in the US were it to be rated, due to the profanity.

  1. This is a great blog!! I show a German movie with almost each chapter I teach!! I would love it if you could give links to where they might be streaming (if at all) or if they are for purchase in the USA.

    1. Thanks for your comment! On the movies I find on streaming services (I have Prime, Netflix, and Hulu at this time), I put this information in the top paragraph. Most films I have on DVD, as I purchase a large stack every time I’m over there and have a wonderful German network who trades movies from time to time! I have also had positive experiences with Amazon.de for these films and some may be available for streaming through their site.
