Cornelia Funke doesn’t usually allow her books to have film versions using German studios, as she prefers the Hollywood style, so this 2015 family-friendly adventure comedy is a special treat for us German-speaking fans!
Comedy veterans Christian Tramitz, Christian Ulmen, and Anke Engelke are joined by English actor Milo Parker (whose lines are originally in English) as the main faces in this event. Comedy fans will also recognize Axel Stein and Karoline Herfurth.
This is a cute film that is safe for the classroom, but does not have any obvious educational connections beyond listening comprehension.
This film is rated PG. The dubbed German as the original soundtrack may annoy some viewers, as the audio does not line up with the video as well as one would hope.
