Freche Mädchen

Disclaimer: this film has a sequel. This post is strictly about the first film, released in 2008.

Much of this film takes place in school, in the 8th grade. It includes thought processing during a dictation exercise, which might be interesting for our students to see. The main character is a pretty bad speller. But most of the film deals with love triangles and the impact on friendships.

Our main character is played by Emilia Schüle, whom we know from the Sapphirblau series. Her mother in the film is played by Anke Engelke, who is a well-rounded comedian and actress. We may know her from Deutschland 86 and the comedy show Genial Daneben. Armin Rohde is here as well, playing the eccentric math teacher. Other important names among our cast: Christian Tramitz, Michael Kessler, and Wilson Gonzalez.

This film does include both implied sex (teachers “falling in love” while looking at each other and the next thing we see is her pregnant) as well as sounds of sex (which are recorded and played back in class). There are also a couple scenes of over-drinking to the point of illness. It would probably land at PG-13 in the U.S. rating system.
