This 2017 film is currently available on Netflix. It’s a drama that centers itself around crime and family.
You may notice that most of the actors in this film have Middle Eastern names. It should be noted that most of them are German-born, primarily in Berlin, where the film takes place. Many of these actors appear to only have been in this film, or have only been in a few roles (including writer-director-star Sedat Kirtan), but Yugoslavian-born Arnel Taci may look familiar. He played Costa in Türkisch für Anfänger (both the film and the series). Burak Yigit may also be known to you, most likely from Victoria, but he’s been pretty active in the past 15 years!
Although this film includes significant violence and crime, clips of this film could be used for family (particularly families in different societies, citizenship, and diversity), public and private identities, factors that impact the quality of life, and societal challenges. It engages with their family life and has hints of societal expectations with the inclusion of a social worker.
There is drug use about 40 minutes in. This is followed by a string of drug deals.
