This 2015 film (currently available on Netflix as Look Who’s Back) is a satire/comedy – if Hitler unknowingly time travelled to modern day.
Hitler is played by Oliver Masucci, who many of us know from Dark. Even Katja Riemann comes in for a fairly small, but important, role.
This film is not rated in the U.S. but the visuals remain solidly at the PG-13 level (the English translations may push it higher, if you watch with subtitles). There is a quick flash of “awkward” while Hitler is channel surfing in the hotel, but he doesn’t like what he sees and keeps going.
Er ist wieder da! Can be used as a comical backdrop of a current event discussion and include a lot of “what if” practice. The themes (racism, migration, etc.) are very important in today’s world, and the inclusion of Hitler makes the topic more approachable.
