This 2006 drama romance features well-known German actor Jürgen Vogel. He really hasn’t slowed down since the mid-1980s!
The female lead is played by Jördis Triebel. You may recognize her from Babylon Berlin or Dark, but she’s been in quite a few roles since the mid-2000s. Interestingly, this was only her second credit (the first being an episode of a TV show).
This film deals with ethical considerations following a terminal medical diagnosis. We also see a clash of cultures between the pig farm and the rest of civilization. Most of these clashes are financial in nature, though the idea of killing an animal is also in play.
That all being said, the pig farmer (Emma) is written to be quite disturbed. There are moments where she is inappropriate in various ways. And of course, being a romance, there are parts that are not suitable for some classrooms.
