Die wilden Kerle

Disclaimer: this is the first film in a series of 6, released between 2003 and 2016. This post covers only the first film.

Actor brothers Jimi Blue Ochsenknecht and Wilson Gonzalez star in this film, made especially for pre-teen boys. Their parents, Uwe and Natascha, also appear in the film. Natascha Ochsenknecht has only been in this and one other film, but Uwe has been acting since his teenage years. Among his well-known films are: Das Boot, Bin ich schön?, Sommer, Ludwig II., and of course many others. He has several projects currently in post-production as well.

Jimi Blue Ochsenknecht began only a few years earlier than this film, and this was his second project. He often plays a troublemaking young man, for example in this series, Gangs, and Homies.

Wilson Gonzalez connected more with the acting field than his brother. He started with Jimi Blue, but eventually saw more roles than him. Freche Mädchen was one of those early extras. Most of his work tends to be in the realm of TV.

Another well-known actor here is Rufus Beck. He voices Xemerius in Sapphirblau, but my personal favourite of his is Waltraud in the film Der bewegte Mann (which, in case you can’t tell from the cover or basic synopsis, is NOT a school-appropriate film).

This film is rated PG in the U.S. and would generally be enjoyable for younger viewers, especially boys and soccer lovers. It does include a girl who pushes gender stereotypes, which allows it to be more educational than a surface-level entertainment film.
