Die wilden Hühner und das Leben

  • by

Please note: there are three wilden Hühner films. This post focuses on the final one, released in 2009.

This film transitions our main characters into the older teenage years, when troubles are much different than the old days. Troubles begin right away, but the main events happen on the Klassentreffen.

Most of the main cast stopped acting, at least for a while, after this film. Some names may be good to take note of, however. Zsa Zsa Inci Bürkle plays Trude. The Wilden Hühner series were her first full length projects. More recently, she was in Fack ju Göhte 2, and several TV series.

Philip Wiegratz hasn’t acted since 2013, but some of his films were quite big. Rubinrot, Lore, and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory are certainly the most well-known among them. In fact, Augustus Gloop was his first film role!

Veronica Ferres has been a staple in German film since the late 1980s. Some of my personal favourites with her are: the Rubinrot series, Der Manny, Klimt, and Late Show.

Jessica Schwarz has had many interesting roles, including in Parfume, Buddenbrooks, Romy, and recently in You are Wanted, which can be seen on Amazon Prime.

And of course, Benno Fürmann plays the teacher in this series.

While there is nothing explicitly inappropriate, one of the main themes of this film is sex. One of the girls feels pressured to have sex, but does not, and her boyfriend cheats on her. That scene implies that they will have sex and the scene changes. Other than the fact that it’s part of a series that started as books, I’m not sure there’s much educational to be discussed using this film.
