Die Kirche bleibt im Dorf

  • by

This 2012 film is noted as a Schwäbisch comedy, and with that comes the dialect and the stereotypes.  We get to hear a conversation between a Schwäbisch speaker and a Hochdeutsch speaker, and those who understand both can get a good laugh.  But the biggest problem is the American man, who, of course, wants to buy the church.

The American is played by Gary Smith, who seems to only have acted in this film and the sequel.  The role brings humor when most needed throughout the film.

Be sure to watch through the credits for a song that includes the American singing not only in German, but also an attempt at Schwäbisch!

While there are a few sexual situations, they are only implied, leaving it between PG and PG-13 level.  There are some F words said by the American, but nothing else of concern comes up.
