This 1961 film is in black and white and shows Germany at the beginning of WWII, as Germany was justifying the invasion of Poland.
This film is from East Germany. Given the release year, this adds an extra layer of propaganda against the Nazi past. That being said, it is a recounting of the true story and does a good job of showing the corruption and manipulation that was happening.
Interesting side note: Some of the music used towards the beginning of this film sounds remarkably similar to the soundtrack of Metropolis.
