Der Baader Meinhof Komplex

This 2008 Moritz Bleibtreu film is based on the true story of the Red Army Faction (RAF) and its actions during the 1960s and 70s.

The styling of this film makes it look like a much older film that it is – focusing on the culture of the time more than the demands or preferences of the modern audiences. That being said, they still show a good amount of action to keep today’s audience engaged. Many original clips from historical news reels are included as well, adding an extra layer of authenticity. There is a good amount of educational points throughout the film due to these choices.

Most of the main cast are successful actors who’ve already been mentioned in at least one other post. For example, we have Moritz Bleibtreu, Tom Schilling, Stipe Erceg, Martina Gedeck, Heino Ferch, and many others.

There is nudity of all ages from the very beginning of this film. If nudity is an issue for you or your audience, I would recommend skipping this film due to the amount of nudity throughout the film. It is rated R in the U.S. not only for the nudity, but also for the degree of violence and some sexuality and language. IMDB has a good page on the parental warnings, and also mentions the possibility of two different versions. My copy also has no sex scene on the beach – while it is very obviously a nude beach, the nudity is more or less non-sexual.
