Berlin, Berlin – der Film

This 2020 Netflix film is a film from an earlier TV series, using the same actors as the series.

Felicitas Woll has been in a range of roles, many centering in the rom-com realm. Wir sind das Volk – Liebe kennt keine Grenzen may be her more well-known films, with Berlin, Berlin being her top role in TV series. Returning as Sven is Jan Sosniok, who has been in several TV series above all else, as has Matthias Klimsa, who plays Hart.

You’ll recognize Christian Tramitz in a bit of a cameo role. That may even tell you the direction that scene is heading – full comedy of an absurd kind. We meet another main player in this scene – Janina Uhse, who was not in the original series. But we have recently seen her in Betonrausch, and German soap opera fans may recognize her from Guten Zeiten, Schlechte Zeiten.

In the intro, there are short clips that involve nudity, though nothing is overly visible, but about 46 minutes in, the ladies find themselves in a quasi-nudist colony. About 20 minutes in there is a drugging, which is followed by an attempted sexual assault a few minutes later. 34 minutes in the ladies find themselves in a drug-related situation. You may recognize Armin Rohde in this scene. This role mimics his role in Der bewegte Mann in his attitude.
