Berlin ‘48

This documentary shows Germany in the post-war era, especially focusing on the Berlin Airlift. This particular documentary was originally in English and the titles and other written information are not translated into German. I’m writing this blog anyway because this may be a good connection for some teachers, whether you are working on a history unit, want to do visual comparison work with Tempelhof throughout history, or simply need something on a sub day.

The various planes and flight plans used for the Airlift are discussed, with some comparisons made between the British and American planes. There is a small scene about the destruction of Berlin in the end of WWII to show the total destruction and part of why it was necessary to help get the resources in and talk about Gail Halvorsen and how his “Rosinenbomber” moves spread to many other pilots in that time.
