Alles auf Zucker

  • by

This movie, released in 2004, follows a journalist of Jewish descent, who is uncomfortable with the changes in Berlin since 1989.  We meet the family as they go through the loss of his mother, and he must reconnect with everyone. We learn some differences between Jewish and German traditions in the time of death, especially as the journalist and his family attempt to appear more Jewish than they have been all their lives.

There is a very short sex scene during which nothing is visible and it’s not focused on at all.  It can very easily be skipped – it’s very near the end of the movie when the young woman pulls the young man aside.

Alles auf Zucker is a comedy that most people can relate to, as all families have difficulties connecting with each other at times.
