1 1/2 Ritter

This 2008 Til Schweiger comedy takes hits at Knight’s Tale and plenty of other pieces of culture and history.

As in many of Til Schweiger’s films, this one is filled with familiar faces for the generations. Half-Ritter Erdal is played by Bullyparade actor Rick Kavanian. After his start in Der Schuh des Manitou, he’s been in several Bully Herbig productions and also played a large role in Otto’s Eleven. Thomas Gottschalk plays König Gunther. Gottschalk’s career more or less peaked in the 1980s and 90s with films such as Die Supernasen and Late Show. He even had a role in Sister Act 2. Beyond that, he may be most famous as the host of Wetten, dass…

Gender stereotypes are played with quite well in this film, but unfortunately much of this line is in the realm of sex.

While not rated in the U.S., the vast majority of this film’s humor hits a low PG-13 level, though nudity would likely throw it up to an R. There is a scene focusing on alcohol intake (he was more or less tricked into drinking vodka as if it were beer), later there is implied prostitution and talk of sex throughout the film. There is drawn nudity at 58 minutes in. At about one hour and nine minutes in, a woman is shows with a very see-through top. A few minutes later, we see a couple women trying to teach Lanze about sex. This scene lasts for quite some time, and ends with the see-through top again.

Note: this film is about 13 minutes shorter than IMDB claims it to be.
